Sketch Book
Sketching for me is an important aspect of being an artist. I'm not trying to capture a perfect image, if I ever do, thats a bonus.
No, sketching is about observing what is around you, really looking, and trying to capture that moment.
Most of my sketches are done between 15 seconds to a minute, especially of animals and people, as they tend to move a lot!
The landscapes are done over longer periods, and as you can see tend to have more detail.
What I'm showing here, is a small selection of my sketches. 9 times out of 10 a sketch is never finished or is just wrong, sometimes they work.
I hope you enjoying looking at them, for me they bring back fond memories as I know where each one was done.

France, Normandy Late Summer 2011
Some sketches done while on holiday in France. The stories behind each image can be read on my BLOG.
Down on the farm
Images captured when out and about walking in the country side.
The Zoo
A trip to Paignton zoo in the summer of 2009, a great opportunity to sketch something different. Except for the camel, he was drawn while on holiday in Lanzarotte.
People
For me the hardest thing to capture as a sketch, the human form.
Landscapes and Buildings
Not usualy inspired to draw landscapes, but every now and then I do.
