Welcome to the Art On The Hoof web site. This site is a show case of animal drawings and portraits drawn by myself, Stuart Fowle, a Wiltshire based artist.
The drawings are a mixture of Horse portraits, Dog portraits, Cat portraits, Horse and Rider plus some Wildlife.
Drawings are done in graphite (pencil) and in a photo realistic style

More stuff
I live in the lovely county of Wiltshire on the outskirts of Trowbridge. I have always had a keen interest in drawing, and in the last few years have been cultivating my style and technique in drawing with graphite. I am always willing to investigate new methods with graphite and carbon to achieve my drawing goals.
My drawings are in a photo realistic style, but I always keep a sense of life and freedom in my art. I am a ‘Friend’ of the Society Of Equestrian Artists, and a keen horse rider who rides as often as I can at local riding schools or on ‘Raffles’ a horse that we share.
All drawings are done on artist quality paper. 'Bristol Board' is currently my favourite paper to draw on. The smoothness of the paper surface and the crisp whiteness suits my style.
